Birthsigns

There are ten named constellations in the sky above Nirn. Nine of these constellations dwell within faint nebulae known as the Guardian Signs; The Warrior, the Mage, and the Thief. Each nebula contains three constellations, each of which correspond to a month of the year. Each nebula is also associated with a month.

Within the Warrior nebula are The Lady, The Steed, and The Lord. Within the Mage nebula are The Apprentice, The Atronach, and The Ritual. Within the Thief nebula are The Lover, The Shadow, and The Tower.

The thirteenth constellation is called The Serpent, and it drifts freely in the sky. It is not associated with any season, and its movements are a mystery.

Each mortal is born beneath a particular sign, and there is much fuss made about the sign of a child’s birth. In most cases, this is mere superstition. In the case of great heroes, however, the birth sign can manifest in strange and powerful abilities.
